Donation I am encouraging: Toy’s For Tot’s Drive at Aligned Life Wellness
It’s that time of year again!   Bring a new, unwrapped gift to the office in order to provide some joy for military families in need!  We only have until December 16th before we have to turn in our donations so please make it a priority.  Our goal this year is 75 gifts which will really help to support our local community in a year in which we need to help out more than ever!  Thanks for your kindness and for being the example of how to treat one another in our community!

Book I am reading:  Endure: Mind, Body and The Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance by Alex Hutchinson
Have you ever wondered why on one day you feel like a world beater and on another a slug?  Have you ever had a race or competition in which everything felt amazing and then the next time you competed felt as if you couldn’t do anything right?  If so, this book takes a historical and scientific look at the factors associated with uncommon performances over long distances and time.  Side note:  This was the audio I was listening to while running my first half marathon on Thanksgiving morning!  Great motivation.

Quote I am loving:  “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.  No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.”  ~ James Clear (Author of Atomic Habits)
One of my favorite books of the year was Atomic Habits.  James Clear describes how to create habits that serve you and eliminate habits that hinder your progression.  He also tells of how the most important part of becoming a better version of yourself is selecting your new identity.  Once you have chosen who you want to become, it becomes easier to determine what habits you would need to implement in order to make being that person a reality.  In a recent podcast with Rich Roll, Clear also talked about how spending time with people who have already become the type of individual you are looking to be, can create and maintain your new identity quicker.  If better health, better posture, a healthier lifestyle and positive attitude are characteristics you are looking to attain I can’t think of a better place to spend time than Aligned Life (yes…I am incredibly biased but it’s true.)!

Have a kick ass week everyone!
In Health,
Dr. Devin Shea, DC

What My 12-Year-Old Taught Me About Health One of my favorite parts of being a parent is watching my boys discover they’re capable of doing things they never imagined. Sometimes all they need is a little encouragement… and maybe a little incentive. This week reminded me that creating healthy habits doesn’t always require more willpower. […]

Track What Matters. Decide With Clarity. Get to Work. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about intentionality. We all have areas of our lives that matter—health, family, finances, relationships, work, fitness—but how often do we actually stop and measure whether our daily behaviors are moving those areas in the right direction? This week, I’m experimenting […]
