Book I am reading: Leadership and Self-Deception by The Arbinger Institute
If you enjoy books that teach life lessons but use a story to illustrate the points rather than just telling you steps or bullet points, I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of Leadership and Self-Deception.  Learning how we all distort reality to protect the decisions we make and the compounding effects of these distortions is the overarching narrative of this book.  Solutions to these and many other typical life experiences are expressed throughout!

Weekly theme day I am promoting: Family Day Thursday!
Each week on Thursday at Aligned Life Chiropractic and Wellness we have decided to celebrate families who are getting healthy together!  Due to the urgency to get all of the people who mean the most to us as healthy as possible we are offering a chance for your family members to receive a chiropractic evaluation that includes a consultation with me, postural photos, range of motion assessment, spine evaluation and any necessary X-rays for just $45 (normally $95).  If you believe that having a healthy spine and nervous system are a foundational part of creating long term wellness, then please advocate for your loved ones by getting their evaluation completed.

Quote I am pondering: “Self-deception is like this.  It blinds us to the true causes of problems, and once we are blind, all of the “solutions” we can think of will actually make matters worse. Whether at work or at home, self-deception obscures the truth about ourselves, corrupts our view about others and our circumstances, and inhibits our ability to make wise and helpful decisions.” ~The Arbinger Institute
When you don’t take action on your gut instinct to treat other people with respect and instead shy away from what you truly believe, your mind will change your thoughts in order to protect you from feeling pain.  Not only will it protect you, but it will also come up with ways to justify why your choice was actually correct.  This “Self-Deception” process leads to fracturing our relationships, incongruencies and keeps us from obtaining real connection with others.  At the end of your life the only thing that will really matter are the depth and quality of the relationships with other people.  Be honest, be courageous enough to apologize when you are wrong and love whole-heartedly!

Have a kick ass week everyone!
