Home exercise for your spine I am recommending: “How To Get The Most Out of Your Home Traction” ~ Dr. Devin Shea D.C.
While being at home the next few weeks (or more…) I wanted to give you guys a “how to” video for the perfect usage for your home traction orthotics.  If you do not have one of these, please contact me at or speak with me at your next visit.  These are NOT a one size fits all, so please have them prescribed before using them.

Poem I am reading: Lockdown by Fr. Richard Hendrick, OFM
March 13th 2020
Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighborhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary
All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbors in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,

Quote I am repeating: “While other professions are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment.”  ~ Dr. B.J. Palmer

As one of the founders of chiropractic back in the early 1900’s B.J. Palmer understood that our most effective way to get and stay well was by making the body more durable and less susceptible to sickness and injury.  Currently, due to the “shelter in place” order many people are making their bodies perfect hosts for viruses and bacteria of all kinds, including COVID-19.  Being stuck at home where they are more sedentary, feeling stressed out, eating poorly and spending an enormous volume of time in a forward flexed position on their phones checking the news regularly and directly placing stress on the spinal cord.  These actions are all the opposite of what the body needs in order to create a robust immune response.  The good news, is that you don’t have to live this way!  Even if you are at home, this is no excuse to slack off.  You must continue to put your health first.  Do a home workout, shop and cook healthy food, do a meditation, get into Aligned Life Wellness to get adjusted, do your home traction and get the stress off your spinal cord.  The choice is yours!

Have a kick ass week everyone!
In Health,
Dr. Devin Shea, DC
